NICU Care Bags for Families at Albany Medical Center’s NICU

In November 2025, Hudson Valley HIEroes delivered 50 NICU Care Bags + Quilts to the Albany Medical Center NICU, specifically for families whose babies are being treated for HIE.

Each bag was thoughtfully packed with:

-Toiletries and personal care essentials
-Postpartum care items for parents
-Self care and comfort items
-Soft baby onesies, including adaptive clothing from Tabeeze

These bags are given to families in the earliest days after an HIE diagnosis, when parents are often shocked, exhausted, and scared. Many arrive at the NICU with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.

In addition to the care bag, each family also receives a handmade baby quilt, created by volunteers right here in our Hudson Valley community. Each quilt is a reminder to the family that their baby is not alone and that people who have never met them still care deeply about their story.

These bags do more than meet physical needs. They tell families: You are not invisible. You matter. Your baby matters.
